SKIKK water cooled laptops

Published on 18 maart 2022

Kampen, The Netherlands - SKIKK ™ today announced a new water-cooled system for laptops that will be built into several new laptops.

With the "SKIKK Kyla", SKIKK offers enthusiasts and people who want the utmost of their system a unique new cooling potential. The Kyla system ensures that the laptops are considerably quieter, cooler and faster.

The system is optional which means that the use of the SKIKK Kyla system is not necessary for the laptop to work. The laptops can therefore use both the normal cooling system and the water cooling system, so that your laptop remains extremely mobile and you can continue to use the system in the future on a next generation of SKIKK laptops.

SKIKK will launch the new optional and compact system in several models in the second quarter of 2022 and plans to extend this new standard to more and more models in the future.

The optional cooling system is already built in so that you can also choose to use water cooling with the SKIKK Kyla afterwards.

The SKIKK Kyla

In a compact chassis of 186 x 203 x 75 millimeters, SKIKK combines a 120 mm radiator with fan, pump and fluid reservoir. This means that the SKIKK Kyla can also be carried in a backpack or bag if necessary, so that the extra cooling capacity is not limited to one location. The weight is low: including the coolant, the cooling system weighs 1.39 kilograms, with a dry weight of 1.18 kilograms. To completely fill the entire system (cooling unit and laptop), approximately 230 milliliters of coolant is required. The chassis itself has an elegant futuristic design, with software-adjustable RGB lighting elements to add some color if desired.

The liquid cooling system is powered by the laptop's power supply, with communication between the two devices being handled via Bluetooth in conjunction with the SKIKK Command Center (software). This way, all USB ports on the laptop remain free for use.

What are the results of the SKIKK Kyla?

The current prototype of the SKIKK Kyla was used on the pre-production model of a SKIKK Bifrost with the latest Intel Core i7-12700H processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti in the highest performance profile.

The result is exceptional, by using the SKIKK Kyla, the temperatures of the processor and graphics card drop by about 20° degrees Celsius. And this while the laptop's fans only run at 50 percent of their maximum speed. Which benefits the longevity and absolute strength. Even under very heavy gaming or rendering loads, the laptop's noise level doesn't exceed 39 decibels.

Modular concept with plug and play installation

Before connecting, the external SKIKK Kyla cooling system must first be filled with coolant via a funnel, which is included. This also makes it possible to top up at a later date. A self-locking quick-connect coupling with hoses for the inlet and outlet connects the liquid cooling system to the laptop quickly - and disconnects just as easily. So that you can also just take the laptop with you at all times.
