Collection points in 250 HEMA branches

Published on 22 januari 2021

HEMA will open a parcel point in more than 250 branches on Friday, January 22, to relieve the increasing pressure on the parcel service. Since the lockdown, an extremely large number of orders have been placed online, which means that more parcel points are needed to cope with the increased demand.

250 DHL parcel points are currently being set up in HEMA stores that will open next Friday. According to DHL, the additional parcel points will help ensure home deliveries run smoothly in the coming months. In addition to the 250 stores that will be accessible as parcel points from next Friday, it is expected that more HEMA branches will join this initiative in the coming weeks. HEMA has a total of 550 stores in the Netherlands.

Only packages can be picked up or returned at the parcel points. HEMA branches are not accessible to purchase other items during the lockdown. HEMA intends to continue the service in the stores when the stores are open again.

HEMA spokesperson: “HEMA and many other retailers are working overtime when it comes to online orders and that inevitably leads to extra pressure on home deliveries. This online turnover is currently of vital importance for retailers and that is why we are happy to help increase the capacity of delivery services. This way, consumers can continue to order their products and we help prevent the delivery system from becoming overloaded.”

DHL: DHL Parcel currently delivers more than 1 million packages per day in the Netherlands and is therefore crucial as a company to keep society running as smoothly as possible. Service points are also a crucial part of this. The easily accessible and recognizable HEMA branches, spread throughout the Netherlands, are a powerful addition to this.

The parcel points at all HEMA locations are open from Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Face masks are mandatory and visitors are asked to keep sufficient distance.
